A splendid evening…certainly a Carnegie Hall quality program!!!

Talented students and faculty from Palm Beach Atlantic

University and the amazing Jazz ensemble with the legendary

Bill Mays at the piano took us on a rocket ship to the Moon!!!

A standing ovation!!!

It was a complete jazzy affair when Jazz Society of Palm Beach gathered at the Meat Market to enjoy Veuve Clicquot champagne and delicious hors d’oeuvres. Saxophone music created the atmosphere in anticipation of the Premiere Event of the Season November 12th at Club Colette featuring “Sax and Jazz.”

Club Colette was a celebration of fall ! Lighting and decorating to celebrate the Autumn Jazz Serenade, a tuition fundraiser opening season for the premier Jazz Society of Palm Beach.  The Ladies and Gentlemen of Jazz were EXCEEDINGLY generous in donating funds to Palm Beach State College and Palm Beach Atlantic University’s jazz students to continue their education.Paul Noble, master of ceremonies, presented Diane Ramy Faulconer, who flew in for the evening to say a few words about the importance of scholarships and continued her scholarship in perpetuity honoring her cousin Richard Tortorigi, a well known Jazz percussionist.Lee and Harvey Poppel, who became Lady and Gentlemen of Jazz, donated the honorarium to students: jazz vocalist Angelica Alvarez and alto sax Evan Michalak. The hit of the evening was John Michalak, grammy award winning saxophonist, playing with Evan, his son, a student at PBSC performing an unforgettable arrangement of  â€śDays of wine and roses”.Roget Pontbriand, artistic director, assembled legendary Jazz musicians, including Frank Derrick on drums, who made the evening a success.
